A succulent bouquet

Lembro-me de ver vasos com suculentas em casa da minha avó desde sempre. É uma planta que nunca pensei vir a gostar tanto. Muito menos, assim, num bouquet. A combinação dos ranúnculos coral com as suculentas é absolutamente perfeita! Inesperada, mas muito especial.

My grandma always had succulents at her house and growing up, I never thought I’d end up loving this plant so much. Especially not in a wedding bouquet. The combination of the soft coral ranunculus with the succulents is perfect! Totally unexpected but so, so special.

The first look

O noivo não poder ver a noiva antes da cerimónia é uma das tradições que mais confusão me faz. Não adianta, não a entendo por mais que me esforce.
Por mim, ele tinha ido comigo escolher o vestido! Já existem tantos motivos de stress que, sinceramente, acho que este era perfeitamente evitável. Tenho medo que ele não goste do vestido, que o ache muito isto ou pouco aquilo, que esteja à espera de um vestido mais discreto ou, pelo contrário, que o ache apagado demais. ..
Para minimizar os nervos, decidimos ver-nos um bocadinho antes da cerimónia. Por isso e porque acreditamos que o momento será muito mais especial se pudermos ser genuínos e efusivos na reacção e dar beijinhos à vontade, sem ter o padre ali ao lado e os olhos de todos os convidados em cima de nós. Será um momento único e só nosso (e do fotógrafo que estará a registar tudinho, claro!).
Vai, de certeza, ser um começo de dia perfeito em que vou poder dizer-lhe ao ouvido todas as formas como pretendo amá-lo até sermos velhinhos.
Somos doidos por fazê-lo? Acham que nos vamos arrepender?

They say it’s bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the ceremony. I say they don’t know what they’re talking about. To me, this is the hardest tradition to understand.
If it was up to me, he would have helped me pick the dress! There are already so many little things to stress over that I believe this one could be perfectly avoided.  I’m scared that he doesn’t like the dress, that he thinks it’s to this, or to that, that he’s expecting something simpler or more over the top…
To minimize the nerves, we decided to see each other a little bit before the ceremony. For that and because we believe the moment will be that much more special if we can be genuine in our reaction, either it means jumping up and down or kissing till our lips hurt. Not having the priest there and all of our guests looking at us will make the moment totally ours (and the photographer’s, who will be there to capture every second of it, off course!).
It’s going to be a perfect beginning for our special day and I will be able to whisper in his ear every single way I plan to love him.
Are we crazy for doing it? Do you think we’ll regret the decision?

DIY magic

Há algum tempo que queria meter mãos à obra e fazer este pompom. Ontem foi o dia!

Precisam de papel de seda, tesoura, régua, lápis, arame, algum jeitinho e uma pequenina dose de paciência. Prometo que o resultado é compensador.
Eu usei oito folhas de papel de seda amarelo com 20x28cm mas podem fazê-los com as medidas que quiserem, desde que mantenham o formato rectangular. Mais pequeninos ficam também muito fofos.
Depois dobrei as folhas em harmónio com mais ou menos 3,5cm por dobra.
Coloquei um arame a meio a prender, recortei as pontas em formato redondo (podem também optar por cortá-las em bico) e fui puxando cada folha para cima. Uma a uma, o pompom foi tomando forma e o resultado final pôs um sorriso enorme nos meus lábios. Experimentem e digam-me se não valeu a pena!

I’ve been wanting to get my hands on this project for a while now. And yesterday was the day!
You’ll need tissue paper, scissors, a ruler, pencil, a thin piece of wire and a little bit of patience. I promise you you'll love the result.
I used eight 8-by-11-inch sheets of yellow tissue paper but you can do them smaller, as long as you keep a rectangular shape. The little ones are also very cute.
Then I made 1 ½- inch accordion folds and slipped the wire over the center of the folded paper. I cut the tips in a round shape (you can choose to cut them pointy) and gently pulled each little sheet. One by one, the pompom was taking shape and the end result put a huge smile on my face. Try it and let me know if it was worth it!

O cabelo lindo (como eu adoro tranças!), a maquilhagem delicada, os sapatos  românticos e o vestido...  oh o vestido... Enquanto via as fotografias fiquei tão rendida que pensei que tudo não podia ser mais perfeito até que vi que a noiva perfeita existe, tem umas sardas fofas e usou um vestido com bolsos no seu casamento!

Estou apaixonada.

The beautiful hair (OMG, how I love braids!), the delicate makeup, the romantic shoes and the dress… oh the dress… As I browsed through the photos I felt like I was in wedding heaven and thought it couldn’t get any better. But boy, was I wrong. There is such a thing as a perfect bride. She has cute freckles and wore a pocket dress to her wedding!

Tenho a certeza que todas estas meninas estão a sorrir. Eu sei que estaria a sorrir de orelha a orelha se tivesse dentro de algum destes vestidos lindos!

Acho maravilhoso ver uma noiva de costas. Não sei exactamente porquê mas talvez seja pelo ar misterioso das imagens.

I'm sure there must be a big smile on all their faces. I know I would be smilling from ear to ear if I was wearing any one of these dreamy dresses!

I just adore the look of a bride from the back. I don't know exactly why but maybe it's the mistery behind the pictures.

Uma forma diferente e tão gira de tirar uma fotografia de grupo!
Conto mais ou menos 50 pessoas na imagem mas como acho que não há limite para o tamanho de um coração (sim, sou mesmo lamechas), talvez tente algo parecido com os nossos 120 convidados.

Such a different and cute way to take a group picture!
I can count around 50 people in the picture but I think there is no limit to the size of a heart (yeah, I'm that cheesy), so maybe I'll try this at our wedding with our 120 guests.
